I understand that you want to know that it's working. However, it's not at all unusual that your doc doesn't want a new MRI yet. Talk to your doc and tell him your concerns. Remember though, an MRI is not necessarily going to tell you whether or not your medicine is working. What was your rate of relapse before you started the medicine compared to after? If you're relapsing more than twice in a six-month period, it may be time to re-evaluate the medicine you're on, and perhaps switch. How long have you been taking the medicine? Your doc may want to give it 12 months rather than six before making a change like that. The best thing you can do is talk to your doctor. Make sure he knows your concerns and make him explain why he doesn't think you need a new MRI. Ask him what his criteria is for when he would say that the medicine is not working. That should help you feel better about his decision. You are a partner with your doctor in your health care. Make sure he understands your concerns and works with you to resolve them. Good Luck! I also have MS.You don't say how long you have been taking the injections. I know that My Neurologist waited till I was on Betaseron 1 year before having a new MRI done.. Sometimes it's not the Dr's choice but the insurance co.The Dr's have a pretty good idea of how frequently an insurance co will pay for them. I had gone for 5years or so between MRI and my Dr recommended I have one, but my insurance declined it..several times as a matter of fact. I waited a year and submitted a request again and that time it was finally approved. If it's only been 6 months , I'm not at all surprised the Dr didn't request an MRI.Good luck with your MS !
