I am a 54 year old female. I was diagnosed 4 years ago with M.S. and take 1 shot weekly of Avonex for that. Last week my Dr. had blood drawn because I had been feeling very tired lately. My Hemoglobin (HGB) was only 4.2, so he put in the hospital and gave me 4 pints of blood and sent me home with iron to take. Was up to 7.5 when I left the hospital. Dr. says it is because I lost so much blood when I went thru menopause (4 yrs. ago) and never replenished that, then my diet has been lacking in iron, plus have been under much stress over the last year, my mom was sick, cared for her and she passed away a couple of months ago. I already feel much better, just was wondering if anyone else had ever had such a low reading and how long it took to get it back up.
